Fr. Selvin sent a note in reply to one I sent to him last week. In the note I mentiond your prayers and tried to encourage him in persevering in his current mission placement. Here is his reply:
Thank you very much for your sincere words, I am here just ready to continue, ready for anything, since God has sent me through my community and having the motivation you give.
Yesterday, we were celebrating the official opening of a new church that we have built with the help of God and the support of some donnors, in which the patron saint is Saint Peter. Within the celebration we had 22 boys and girls and few adults who receive the confirmation, 7 girls who did their ceremony of serving God in the church, they are called "Daughters of Mary" and their aim is to live like Mary. They belong to that group, being taught good behaviour and the value of virginity is in them very strong that they live like that until marriage.
Also we had there 2 couples who married in the church and after the mas they feasted dancing in their own african christian tradition.
Today we have the visit of our superior from Guatemala and he will be together with us until next week.
God bless you and greet Joe, David, Hanna, and all the others. Fr. Selvin
