  • Stephanie steps out

Keep up your prayers. They are working.

Bernadette called with GREAT news!!! Stephanie was moved off the isolation wing and out to a 'regular' floor. This is a BIG step (can you tell that we are excited?). It means she is more stable emotionally, and they think she can handle some freedom. She has maxed our on physical therapy. Her mobility is fine. She has progressed as far as she can in occupational therapy until her cognitive abilities come back some more. That is what they are working on in speech therapy. she is progressing there, but still has a good ways to go.

This is particularly good news because it opens up more possibilities for placement once she leaves the rehab hospital. They are still looking at nursing homes, but it is more likely she will end up closer to home. Since she has recently reconnected with her children, she and Bernadette think closer is better. Please keep praying about the issues with her children. It needs prayer: let's just leave it at that. Much too complicated to go into.

Thank you once again for your prayers on Stephanie's behalf. Like I told the cell phone people (Bernadette went WAY over her minutes again): this is a crisis situation, but it is not one which is over and done in a few days or weeks. We are approaching five years with Arif (our cell phone minutes have settled into something reasonable, some time ago, however), and it is still very much crisis mode because there are issues to deal with on a daily basis that we would not have to if he had been able to just go on with his life. Stephanie and Bernadette (and their families) will need support over the long term
