  • News from Our Missionary Friend, Fr. Selvin Garcia

We finally got a note from Fr. Selvin. We have been worried, since we did not hear from him in many, many months. Last year, he was in a dangerous situation, although that seems to be less intense these days. Please continue to pray for him and for his mission. Here is his note (keep in mind that English is his second language):

I don't come much to town; now I'm in the big city of Nairobi, runnuning up and down coz my passport was expired 2 months ago, and I did the application 2 months in advace, since expire I was ilegal, now I've finished everything they have already given me 3 years more. People from here in terms of docs and many other things are very slow.
Anyway, I want to travel to my home next year at the begginin if God wills. For now I'm building the parish house where I'm based, because since we came we are renting until now. I'll send to you some photo next time.
We are waiting for more missionaries to come from Gua-temala, and so our mission is growing, we've many christians even some few muslims who are converting and the result is that they have troubles with former religion (islam), there many children coming to churc whose parents are not christians so, for commitment is dificult to get them the same as women, their hus-bands allow them to come to church only on sundays and for 2 hours that are our challenges; but I trust in God that your prayers and ours they will change slowly by slowly, at least they have made a step of been allowed to come to church. And so many stories that I can tell you after, I'll continue writing to you. Greetings to all, May God bless you, yours in Christ
