I am still working on putting music to the song. Meanwhile, I found a need to re-do some of the lyrics.
A call came this morning:
a parent’s worst nightmare come true:
“No, it’s not a good day.”
As we rushed to be at his side
we called on Your mercy
praying only “Your will be done.”
As our child lay so still.
We saw our lives turn inside out.
Still You hold us near.
Your mercy fills all our lives.
So we cry “Abba!”
Your love shows through in everything.
Days and weeks of waiting:
his life hangs by less than a thread.
You give him all the best.
You promised we’d have all we need.
Wild monitors dazzle --
so much to learn for wise choices.
Let You take the hard ones,
And we hold on as best we can.
Still You hold us near.
Your mercy fills all our lives.
So we cry “Abba!”
Your love shows through in everything.
And You send Your comfort:
lady says: “Can I pray with you?”
Prayers come from everywhere.
His short life touched so many souls.
He still shows You to all.
And we marvel at Your power
to meet not just our needs,
but those of all who touch our lives.
Still You hold us near.
Your mercy fills all our lives.
So we cry “Abba!”
Your love shows through in everything.
Weeks have now become years.
His progress seems oh so slow.
We use gifts You gave us
and strive to follow the right path.
The love we hold for You
carries us when we feel so lost.
We thank You for his life
And now wonder what You have planned.
Still You hold us near.
Your mercy fills all our lives.
So we cry “Abba!”
Your love shows through in everything
